French Holiday Rentals - Chateaux to Let

French Holiday Rentals - Private Lettings of Chateau / Villa with Pool & Tennis, plus Farm house and Cottage in the Dordogne / Lot region of SW France.

Thank you for finding us. We hope you will like the holiday property, and add our website to your 'favourites'.

We own some holiday houses in South-West France, and these are available for family holidays. There is a farmhouse in 12 acres of wooded hillside, and a small Chateau with 6 bedrooms. A second Chateau has 9 bedrooms plus a vast attic playroom, and the third has 10 bedrooms. Each Chateau has its own swimming pool and tennis court. Broadband Internet ( ADSL / DSL + wifi ) is available. They also provide a well-maintained grand piano, satellite TV, DVD and hi-fi. These properties offer complete privacy and rents are from £200 per week. Why rent a French Villa when you can have a Chateau to yourself ?!

All are in the same area of France, part of historic Aquitaine known as Perigord. The countryside is very peaceful, with occasional hilltop 'bastide' towns (more like villages) dating from the 12th century, plus castles from the same era. There is always masses to do and see, including easy canoeing on the rivers and exploring some of the biggest underground caves in Europe. The region is also known by the names of the major rivers, the Dordogne and the Lot. Its specialities include the wonderful French food with pate de foie and rich dark wines. The local restaurants are very reasonably priced.

Finally we do have a little English village cottage - Lilac Cottage in Allsaints Smallridge, near Axminster, Devon. It is very popular with animal lovers who cannot take their pets abroad.

The Chateau is surrounded by 35 acres of its own land and is let on an exclusive basis, providing complete privacy. Chateau de Lamostonie has a Rapunzel tower and a Juliet balcony. The mature gardens have sweet-scented roses, lavender and sweeping lawns. The chateau provides a perfect setting for a traditional summer house party, but it is also warm in winter with roaring log fires. See the Floor Plan / Bedroom Layout with pictures of the interior.

Cottage / Pigeonnier

Within the grounds, but set a little way from the château, is a charming cottagewith its own amenities. This is wonderful for a couple or a young family, sleeping up to 4. The cottage is let with the Chateau to provide additional accommodation if required.

Dining Room, Music Room, Drawing Room, Chapel, Kitchen, Terraces

Inside the Château there is a magnificent dining room with a huge fireplace for log fires and a large table where parties may dine by candle-light. There is a wood panelled music room with a Pleyel grand piano (made in about 1890) and an elegant drawing room. For quiet moments, there is a tiny chapel in the tower, with stained glass windows. The older part of the house has an oak-beamed hall that could be used for larger celebrations, especially in the winter months. It houses a further grand piano and upstairs there is a snug TV room with Video and DVD players. Satellite CNN and BBC World programmes are also available.

There are large new kitchens, fully equipped and with two dishwashers, two ovens and microwaves etc. Although modern, they are in a traditional style, and retain some of the attractive features formerly present such as pretty dressers and a copper hood over the hob. In the kitchen there is an additional table with seating for 6. For those who prefer not to cook, we can arrange for an excellent local chef to prepare your meals.

There are two large terraces, suitable for eating outside, well equipped with garden furniture and easily accessible from the house.

Swimming pool, Tennis court

The Château has a large swimming pool with more garden furniture, a barbeque and a pleasant terrace. There is a recently installed flood-lit hard tennis court with racquets and balls provided.

Maid service

Maid Service is included three mornings a week to keep the house clean. If you wish to have additional maid service this may be arranged on request to the staff at an hourly rate. If required, we can provide details of local baby-sitters to enable you to make your own arrangements.

Linen and Towels are provided, but please bring your own swimming towels.

The château is built over a vast stone vaulted cellar in which there is a laundry room, with automatic washing machines.

Communications

Telephone calls are metered at cost and a broadband wireless internet connection is available free of charge. A fax machine is provided. A deposit will be requested prior to your holiday. This is fully refundable less any expenses for Telephone, Central heating, or breakages at the end of your holiday.

There are endless possibilities for creating a memorable and romantic celebration at Château de Lamostonie. As far as we can, we shall try to accommodate the individual arrangements you wish to make.

The terraces and lawns of the Château are ideal for drinks receptions. In Spring and Summer, you may wish to have a wedding breakfast or birthday meal outside. Tables and marquees may be set up in various places. One particularly idyllic spot for a party is under the shady branches of a large horse-chestnut tree to the south-west of the Château.

The dining room comfortably seats fourteen people. For larger parties, the hall in the older part of the house may also be used for dining.

We can assist you with details of appropriate caterers, florists and musicians.

Christmas and New Year

With its roaring log fires and wonderful views, Château de Lamostonie is a fantastic place to spend Christmas and the New Year.
